The mistake Abdul Dremali Makes is temporal ie one of rate of flow, you can not get unlimited bread sticks all at once as they would collapse in on themselves and form a black hole. Effectively removing themselves from the universe and resulting in a basket too heavy for the average server.
By limiting how many bread sticks are available at one point they can have a constant stream of matter from the kitchen to the customer to the bathroom to various cleaning and recycling steps out in to the world and from the world back to the grain field to processing to the kitchen to the customer. Making an unlimited amount of bread sticks (for at least the next 100 trillion years) with a limited amount of matter.
I don’t even wanna link the original because this is an unbelievably sketchy thing to do.*edit* Image in the original post had photo-manip’ed nudity. Posting real or fake nudes of someone without their consent is terrible, doing it in the name of a “response” to that kind of abuse is whole new levels of fucked up.

The Diversity Gap in the highest grossing science fiction and fantasy films. Sad, right? You can see the full study here.
from the infographic:
Among the top 100 domestic grossing films:
- only 8% of films star a protagonist of color
- of the 8 protagonists of color, all are men; 6 are played by Will Smith and 1 is a cartoon character (Aladdin)
- 0% of protagonists are women of color
- 0% of protagonists are LGBTQ
- 1% of protagonists are people with a disability
Wait a mother fucking second. Don’t start this argument with a science fiction fan. In the genre of science fiction you have to spread it much boarder than just science fiction. Because scifi can be anywhere from It’s Alive to Star Wars to Guardians of the Galaxy.
Science fiction deals with race in a way any film in today’s standards can’t even touch.
Star Trek had the first biracial kiss.
Star Wars has employed actors that would have never been able to receive jobs because of height. Lando owned the millennium falcon before Han!
Firefly the first mate is an African American female!
You can not speak of science fiction without speaking of how ground breaking it can be in the space genre. So don’t think a chart means you truly know the facts when it seems you believe you can lump over a thousand different movies into one genre of just science fiction.
I could say a lot of things here. I could try to explain to you what a “percentage” is, and how listing 5 casting decisions you consider ‘enough’ diversity don’t make much, if any, impact on the overall numbers. Especially ones from forty plus years ago.
I could point out that you’re talking about TV shows as well, which aren’t a part of what this chart ^^ is measuring, which is the Top 100 Domestic Grossing Sci Fi and Fantasy Films, which is clearly states at the top.
I could try and interpret the, uh, sentence: “In the genre of science fiction you have to spread it much boarder than just science fiction.” as meaning analyzing genres beyond Science Fiction, like Fantasy, which is included in the chart. Once again, big block letters “& FANTASY” at the top of the chart. Not only that, if you want to “spread it boarder”, the article already has that covered:
This is not an isolated incident, but a wide reaching societal problem.
Read more Diversity Gap studies on:
But the real gist of what you are saying is that I or anyone who criticizes the SFF genre for lacking racial diversity isn’t a real fan, and that we should be satisfied with whatever bit parts (Lando and Ewoks?? Are you kidding??) and token representation actors of color are cast in.
If you ask me, “real fans” of the genre believe that it is capable of better, and can survive and thrive on our critical consumption of it. If the sciences exist because of inquiry, research, and analysis, why wouldn’t science fiction do the same? After all, if something is to become a reality, it must first be imagined.
They tried to use Firefly, a show that uses an entire culture as a backdrop for a space drama and two characters with the surname Tam who are not Chinese, to tell people that we should be grateful for scraps from Joss Whedon, who is not actually a feminist writer or producer. Who are they kidding?
1. I am a huge fan of Firefly/Serenity
2. I agree with this so hard it needs an onomatopoeia
And that’s how you consume media critically.
This one? Thanks for the info. =:)
Hot Topic has recently started selling wooden plugs made by Urban Star. These plugs are made from teak wood: AN EXTREMELY TOXIC WOOD!
I repeat, TEAK WOOD IS AN EXTREMELY TOXIC WOOD.
Because online retailer King’s Body Jewellery also sources their wooden jewellery from Urban Star, I’d not only avoid Hot Topic’s crap, but avoid KBJ altogether because the chance of cross contamination with these teak wood plugs with the rest of their plugs is extremely high.
Spread the word and take care of your lobes!!!
Aight, think some clarifying information as a dude who’s done some woodworking is in order. So, toxicity of teak wood:
It is possible to have a allergic reaction to the /oils/ in teak, same as many tropical hardwoods. Other examples of some hardwoods people are allergic to are cedar, black wallnut, lignum vitae, and the like. This isn’t a thing for everyone, and properly treated teak is pretty cool for most people to touch, barring allergy.
Unless you’re planning on sanding and then inhaling the sawdust from your teak plugs, you’ll probably be fine. Also, probably not the best idea to lick it, but there you are. This is where most all of the possible toxicity from teak would be an issue, ingesting and inhalation.
Teak is used to make cutting boards, cups, even cutlery and stuff. Wouldn’t be my first choice, but it’s pretty and very long lasting. Also, go boards, something that often comes in contact with human skin and has for centuries, are made of teak wood traditionally. Basically, like a /lot/ of stuff, don’t eat, inhale, or inject your teak wood plugs into your bloodstream, and you’ll almost certainly be fine.
Not trying to downplay this or anything, it’s good to know, but the SCARE CAPS and shit made me roll my eyes a bit.
THIS TOO GUYS. BE SAFE.
This is sorta manditory to reblog.
This joint kills you faster than the bubonic plaque. True
thats because it was designed in the lab to do that
Oh jesus christ. Not one of these “Let’s talk about the symptoms without discussing the realities of the disease!” shit posts. All these do is make people panic and think their cold is some sneaky form of Ebola.
OKAY LISTEN UP YOU GUYS. ITS TIME TO PULL UP A CHAIR, TURN ON YOUR SCIENCE EARS AND:
(I’m using Bill Nye because this is gonna be a goddamn science talk and I know you people love nostalgia)
HERE ARE SOME VERY IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT EBOLA:
- EBOLA IS ONLY TRANSMITTED THROUGH CONTACT WITH THE BLOOD OR BODY FLUID OF AN INFECTED PERSON.This is why one of its nicknames is “the Caregiver’s disease”! Because most people who contract it are people who were taking care of an infected patient or handled bodies with Ebola. So the general rule of thumb to avoid Ebola (and dozens of other disease much more prevalant everywhere) is: IF YOU SEE BLOOD OR BODILY FLUIDS THAT’S NOT FROM YOUR BODY - DON’T FUCKING TOUCH IT.
- THE EBOLA VIRUS HAS A SHITTY SURVIVAL RATE OUTSIDE A HOST. This means that once a strain of the virus leaves a person’s body outside through blood, vomit, snot, etc - it can’t survive very long at all. In fact many scientific studies find that it’s hard to estimate exactly how long it can survive because their samples tend to start to break down before they can even run tests. This means sitting on a toilet seat in Dallas will not get you fucking ebola.
- ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS THIS OUTBREAK HAS GOTTEN SO BAD IS DUE TO SHITTY HEALTH CONDITIONS AND INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE INFECTED COUNTRIES. And by shitty, I mean it’s hard to get clean water and supplies level of shitty. While we can argue about the shitty state of US healthcare (and it’s 100% valid discussion) - it really doesn’t compare to what these clinics have.
- IT DOES NOT HAVE A 100% MORTALITY RATE. Yes, it can be very deadly (from 25-90%), but again, most of the reasons it’s been so deadly is because of the shitty health conditions pointed out in #3. But it is completely possible to survive through Ebola if you get proper treatment (which you shouldn’t have it in the first place if you followed #1).
- NOT EVERY AFRICAN COUNTRY HAS BEEN INFECTED WITH EBOLA. In fact compared to other epidemics, the rate this one has spread is small (I mean it is tragic, no question about that, but objectively speaking it doesn’t even hold a candle to the Bubonic plague, Spanish Influenza, HIV/AIDS or even H1N1). The countries infected are Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, all located in West Africa. And by infected, I mean about 0.0004% of their combined populations of 20 million are infected - which in pandemic terms this is tiny. So if you or your friends or your family who are either traveling or living in other parts of Africa you really shouldn’t worry about Ebola because- Africa is fucking huge.
- THERE IS NO SOLID EVIDENCE IT WAS CONSTRUCTED IN A LAB. This is a conspiracy theory that’s been thrown out there in order to explain why it’s so deadly. People get anxious, and they blame what they can.
And that’s it! It pretty much boils down to it’s really not something to panic about - and you shouldn’t handle other people’s bodily fluids or blood without proper equipment. Which- you really shouldn’t do that at anytime, anyplace.
there is one other transmission vector: fruit bats.
if you live in sierra leone, don’t eat fruit bats. i mean the meat’s probably fine if you cook it well, but preparing it exposes you to their blood, so it’s a bad idea.
if you live in the us, well, we don’t even HAVE fruit bats.
as for the conspiracy theory, there’s one of those for everything, but honestly there are a lot of nasty diseases out there in the animal population that are harmless to their carrier but dangerous when they become able to infect human hosts — bird flu, anyone? — and there’s no reason this one is any different.
Also here is an actual quote from the book: “His voice is warm and husky like dark melted chocolate fudge caramel… or something.”
PSA to all you kiddos out there who keep refreshing the MSPA page for the update, stop that you’re makin it worse just have a bit of patience until they get the site back up. Plus when you’re done reading please close the page, to lighten the load on the servers.
This has been a upd8 PSA.
You don’t have to close the page. That’s not how the internet works
The automatic criminalization of black and brown bodies
Now hold on a sec I do INDEED have a problem with one picture but not the other.
In the TOP picture you can clearly see two hunting rifles and a mid-sized handgun, which are perfectly reasonable guns for a family to have, and it appears that all three people in the picture are legally old enough to at least have gone to a hunters safety course, which legally justifies the weapons being in their hands for certain purposes - hunting. Hand guns are carried by hunters to defend against bear attacks, should they happen, and by fishermen when fishing in lakes containing sturgeon … because the only way you’re killing a goddamned prehistoric dinosaur fish from hell is by shooting it (no joke).
Now the BOTTOM picture clearly contains only ONE child old enough to have gone through a hunters safety course … and not a single gun that is used for anything other than killing other human beings, and this I have a serious problem with. Guns that are intended ONLY for killing humans (the AR and AK series rifles, which are shown) with CHILDREN is a fucking problem.
Now, if they were hunting rifles in the bottom picture - you know, guns that are meant solely for the procurement of food - then I wouldn’t have an issue outside of the questionable ages of the children shown.
Really huge red flag on the bottom pic is the fact two of the kids clearly have their fingers ON THE TRIGGERS.
Its called trigger discipline. I’ve never been to any gun safety classes and I know that much.
That sounds cool. BUT HOW DOES IT WORK?
(Helicarrier Hulk wakes up, no control, attacks everyone. New York Hulk is good guy buddy only hurt bad guy. Wait! OK! Loki was harshing the vibe on the helicarrier. No, wait further, Loki was just as there in New York. In fact, quite close to Mr. Grabby Hulk.)
I am continually drawn to this dumb film by the interaction between Downey and Ruffalo. I am continually put off by this dumb film by how dumb it is.
Wow, look at this! It’s 2014, and people are still saying things like this! Amazing!!! :D Here, let me explain to you why, and how:
First of all, why do people keep forgetting that The Incredible Hulk happened?? In that film it was shown that Bruce can actually control the Hulk when he deliberately hulks out.
Please notice that Bruce hulked out on the helicarrier because something blew up and he was thrown so hard he fell one floor down through the window. It was obvious that Bruce was hurt and in danger.
Hulk exists to protect Bruce, Bruce was in danger, you do the math.
Not to mention that Bruce was understandably angry at Natasha and Fury because he felt like they’d lied to him. (Therefore, causing Hulk to went after Natasha).
Manhattan Hulk showed up because Bruce ‘asked’ him to. Because he fucking did it on purpose. The Hulk is the physical manifestation of Bruce’s emotions — all his anger, frustration, empathy, sadness, disappointment, sympathy, love, hate, everything. That’s why Hulk knew which are the bad ones and which are the good ones, that’s why he saved Tony from falling off the sky, that’s why he listened to Steve’s orders. Hulk isn’t just some mindless beast who has no feelings whatsoever. He recognised and saved Betty in the midst of his rampage in TIH, looked hesitant when he saw the fear in Natasha’s eyes (it was brief but it was there), punched Thor as a payback, etc. Hulk is not that simple.
Bottom line is, that Bruce can control the Hulk to some degree when he has the option or actually gets to choose, and that’s not what happened on the helicarrier.
So, yea, that’s how.
In this post the uneducated are taught that The Hulk isn’t a mindless monster born simply out of rage.
Anybody gonna mention that our lowdown was given to us DIRECTLY FROM MR. BRUCE HIMSELF?!
Took me until that last comment to realize it is actually Mark Ruffalo, the actor who planed Bruce Banner, who left that incredibly informative comment. Much respect, sir!
One: lovely meta thoughts about the character of Bruce Banner.
Two: minor correction—the “markoruffalo” tumblr page is run by one “bella//18//jakarta,” and not the actor (Mark A. Ruffalo), alas. (His tumblr page is here, if you’re interested.)
